Brief
Spot,the twisted brain child of James Doherty and Michael Lee was a short animation commissioned by the Irish film board as part of the Irish flash 2004 scheme. The brief was to create an animation between 1 and 3 mins which though not limited in terms of content or style was limited by a very small budget.

Solution
Never ones to be put off by such silly things we set about creating a piece which would have a unique and striking visual style. Using Lightwave 3d, Flash and the latest vector shading plugins we created an animation which is both striking and original.

The eye wrenching visual style was complimented perfectly by the grinding guitar sounds of local spide-punk legends Mr. Nipples and the Dangleberries.

Spot is currently being shown a 22 international film festivals including the Rushes Soho short film festival where it made it onto the best short animated film shortlist alongside Europe’s elite animation studios. The category was eventually won by ardman studios 'creature comforts'.
